THE DEVIL WEARS PAYLESS - inspired by campy, endlessly quotable 2006 cult-classic film starring Meryl Streep as the ultimate boss from hell - this outrageous, high-fashion farce struts onto the stage in a fast-paced, high-energy, over-the-top stage retelling with a delicious twist. When it’s discovered that the icy and iconic Miranda Priestly has been secretly spray-painting the bottoms of her shoes red to pass them off as designer, the illusion of effortless luxury begins to crack. Hey Bitch! is a wild musical broomstick ride through the childhood of queer icon Bitch (Bitch and Animal, Kill Rock Stars, Shortbus), her feminist awakening, indie rock stardom and subsequent brush with cancel culture. A funny, touching and dynamic electric violin-laced pop treatise on patriarchy, self-actualization and triumph. This cabaret version of the show promises another take on Bitch’s one woman show, which just completed its first off-Broadway run. Co-written and directed by Margie Zohn.

ABOUT BITCH

Bitch is a longstanding queer music icon who Yahoo Entertainment called “a feminist force that the world needs now more than ever” when she released “Bitchcraft,” her 9th studio album, on the legendary label Kill Rock Stars in 2022. Since releasing “Bitchcraft,” she has toured nationally, headlining over 100 shows as well as opening for Indigo Girls and Ani Difranco.

Bitch first got her start in the late 90s as one half of the punk dyke duo Bitch and Animal. During a pivotal Summer of shows in Provincetown, Bitch and Animal were picked up by Ani Difranco who took them on tour and released two albums on her label Righteous Babe Records. After going solo, Bitch played herself in John Cameron Mitchell’s “Shortbus,” (Hedwig and The Angry Inch), released solo albums on Kill Rock Stars and her own label Short Story Records, and produced and released two albums of her folk idol Ferron.

Recently, Bitch played a role in Alison Bechdel’s Audible podcast “Dykes To Watch Out For,” played violin on Margaret Cho’s album “Lucky Gift,” alongside several other collaborations. Living a double life – reading tarot in Salem while residing in a creepy cottage town run by zealots – her personal horror show reinterprets Biblical women’s stories and becomes a fierce reclamation of spirituality, all while trying not to get burned at the stake.
